Overall, the shapes of this piece are somewhat evenly spread across the canvas, adding a sense of continuity beneath the chaos. The darker colors and closely packed shapes near the top add a sense of space. In addition, the shapes near the bottom are more detailed, and some appear to have faces. And so this chaos has been carefully orchestrated; indeed, many of the shapes have even been outlined.

Some empty spaces occur along the sides of the painting, which allow the eye to rest. They also confine the positive space into a ribbon of beautiful shapes and bright colors.

A strong sense of harmony and rhythm pervade throughout the piece, as seen in the repetition of blue and yellow, etc.
There are many directionalities at work within the piece, but many of them, such as the horizontal bars and blue veins (lower-middle, left) appear to move towards the ribbed stair-like shape outlined in pink on the right side.

This is already an amazing work, so these suggestions are only tentative. Although it is balanced by a few other dark shapes, the dark red shape in the top-middle seems somewhat out of place. Outlining it a little might help. Or, it might be interesting to darken some of the shapes on one side, so that the space recedes and becomes a little more three-dimensional. Also, the spotted light orange bar along the lower-middle area seems a little out of place. Gradiating a color above and/or below it might help, even if it were only along the sides.

There is something fantastical and wonderful about this piece, due to its bright, bold colors and complex, otherworldly shapes. But at the same time, there is a certain darkness about it as well. The dark red horizontal shape towards the middle-top of the piece, the jagged edge on the right side of the red-orange stripe at the top, and the vein-like lines throughout suggest a sort of eeriness. It is as though something were amiss in this world of wonder, or perhaps its creatures are not as innocent and whimsical as they seem.

Some forms are more geometric than the rest, such as the “t” shape in the lower right, which may represent an airplane entering the aurora borealis. But given the title’s spoonerism, such a literal interpretation may be misguided. It is also possible that the plane is actually flying into a pocket of vivid colors and fantastical creatures that belong to another world.

The vertical bars at the top may refer to the “folds” that sometimes occur within the northern lights.

I like to imagine that this painting depicts a hole between our universe and some alien dimension. In the lower left, there is a dark red and blue rhombus, which might be a hole within the fabric of the universe. I perceive the green form to be the tentacle of some fantastic beast escaping into our world. The rest of the painting is filled with other creatures from this dimension, fanning out in all directions.

Your painting is absolutely beautiful. I can’t imagine how long it must have taken, and its effect is stunning. I hope some of this is helpful, but whether it is or not, this is a very strong piece, and you should be proud of it.
